SENNHEISER Momentum 3 Wireless – A Personal Experience

SENNHEISER Momentum 3 Wireless.

Of all the headphones I have bought below the $700.00 price range, the SENNHEISER Momentum 3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones and the HD 660 S are probably the best I have
listened to.

In comparison, I have Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and also the Sony WH-1000XM4, and the most obvious difference is the audio quality. When you put on the SENNHEISER, everything sounds balanced and clear. Not too much booming bass, not high pitch scratchy screeching, no distortion – you’ll love the music you’re listening to without any adjustments to the bass or treble. Very clear vocals, separation of instruments.. In short, you’ll love it find it’s a pleasure buy. Immersive and total bliss.

On the Bose I had, my immediate reaction when I put it on was … what the..!@!$$! Is this serious?? After all I’ve read about Bose, the immediate perception was that the sound was just heavy on bass and the music isn’t near as crystal clear as the Momentum. It was not a straightforward process to download the app, I don’t remember exactly what the problem was, but it had to do with non detection of the paired unit, and after a couple of phone restarts and uninstalling/reinstalling of the app, it got working. After adjusting the equalizer and bass levels, the Bose sounded way better than it was out of the box. This improvement however, is relative to how it sounded without fine tuning. The end result still doesn’t come close to the Momentum. Something about the clarity of vocals and instruments is just missing.

Same with the Sony. Both the Sennheiser HD 660 S and Momentum, being by the same brand, had more or less the same sound signature. I don’t find the HD 660 S, even at a higher price point to be any different in sound quality than the momentum. In short, just get the momentum for wireless capabilities, as the 660 S isn’t a wireless headphone, but a wired one.

If you’re someone who prioritize music quality, just get the Momentum or HD 660 S. I think these two models provide the best value for money, and higher price point headphones could be marginally better, but the cost would have doubled or tripled with only minute differences to appreciate.
